Human Design? What in the world is Human Design? I remember when my friend, Lisa Caruso of JoyWelle, first mentioned this to me. She said it was very complex and interesting. Hmmm… Intriguing, but nothing I needed. Then the Universe stepped in (as she often does). I met a Human Design professional, Kristi Sullivan, who is a fellow co-author of The Ultimate Guide to Creating Your Soul-Aligned Business. I kept the conversations going, learned my Type, and then started to read. Your girl loves a good book. Like water on a hot summer day, I couldn’t get enough. I read eight Human Design books in eight weeks. But I needed more!

Similar to when I learned about wellness and healing travel, I wanted to share this knowledge to help others. I could clearly see how it would support my coaching clients and the curated training I do. What’s so special about this mysterious Human Design? It focuses on the unique individual that is you and (just like Inspired Journey Consulting) it encourages shining in your brilliance.

What In the World is Human Design?

First, I’ll give you the confusing technical description. It’s a science based on Eastern and Western astrology, Chinese I Ching, Kabbalah Tree of Life, Hindu Chakra System, and Quantum Physics. When I first read that, I thought, “Please don’t make me do any math.” Now here’s the vague description: A tool for human understanding and self-knowledge.

If you’re like my husband, those definitions may cause you to stop reading. Please stay with me. The IJC definition of Human Design is: A detailed exploration of who you are authentically meant to be, the conditioning that has altered who you are that could contribute to you feeling stuck, and a way to escape the noise in your mind to then instead get into the truth of your intuition. The process starts with knowing your birth date, time, and place. Then thanks to a supersmart quantum physicist and computer tech, a program was created where non-tech people like me can pull your Chart. This is where the fun begins.

Tell Me Why I Care & Keep It Simple

There are three key components to explore at the beginning of the Human Design journey: Type, Strategy, and Authority. Type is the role you’re meant to play in this life. Strategy is how you interact with opportunities. Authority is how you make decisions.

As the Travel Can Heal community knows, anxiety tends to visit me on the regular. Not as often as he used to, but more than a handful. The more I learned about my Human Design, the less visits I received. I developed a calm about me that was evolved.

Let me give you an example. A client contract ended earlier than expected and business was moderate. Jackie from six months ago would have been in a corner hyperventilating, spending nights awake thinking of solutions. She would be doing, doing, doing for 12-15 hours a day without a day off. Berating herself and believing that nothing she did was ever enough.

The Three Gifts

Once I learned who I’m meant to be through the eyes of my Human Design Chart, everything shifted. Am I suddenly a millionaire? Not yet. But there are three things that have changed me.

  • Confidence in my strengths
  • Peace with the flow of life
  • Trust in my intuition

As a solopreneur, the past three years have been an interesting exploration of self. It took a minute, but I finally learned not only what I do best but how to communicate it AND how I work best. However, I felt a bit like a diva when I described it. Who am I to tell people how I work best when they hire me? Then I learned that I’m a Projector, a Human Design archetype that is here to provide wisdom and guidance. Lightbulb moment! I had literally just been called a “wisdom giver” by one of my clients a few weeks before. Projectors need rest throughout the day and are not meant to be in the thick of the operations. So maybe I wasn’t being extra? The jury is out on that one…

Unique Design

As a Projector, my Strategy is to wait for an invitation. Now this is getting spooky. When I wrote my chapter for the book in March, I was reflecting on how I had been recruited for most of my jobs. Thinking of the positions I went for without that invitation, the results were rough. Isn’t this an interesting twist on how I can do business? It started my creative wheels turning.

Lastly I learned that I have an Emotional Authority, which means I need to ride my emotional wave when making big decisions. This can be as quick as 24 hours. When I don’t follow this and move towards something that didn’t feel right, the experience will be wonky. Been there too many times… Big bright reminder to tap into my intuition and trust it. Plus, a cool new way to do that.

Intrigued?

Understanding and working with my Human Design has helped me as a wife, a friend, a mom, and a solopreneur. Since the eight books were tugging at my intuition for more, I leaned into that and am now a Certified Quantum Human DesignTM Professional. That means my clients benefit from learning more about their uniqueness and how it can impact all areas of their lives (even marketing strategy). My friends, if you’re keen to learn more about your own design and are not in the travel industry or in need of my other services, I’m here to help. Schedule some time for a Human Design reading today. Let’s celebrate the unique being that is you!
